The Council of Chalcedon in 451AD came up the philosophical fudge that Jesus was fully human and fully divine. The net result was to cut off parts of the early church that disagreed, but ask yourself whether it really matters? All we need is to accept that in the person of Jesus of Nazareth we see the nature of God. If you need more then think of Jesus of Nazareth being subsumed into the presence/being of a ‘God outside time’ upon his death & resurrection. As part of a God outside time then he was part of God at the beginning, is part now and is part of God at the end to come.
